A GALLOPING SUCCESS IN GRANTHAM

Grantham Festival Horse-a-round
One of our younger competitors, my son Tom!

Hundreds once again flocked into Grantham town centre to enjoy the second ‘Grantham Festival’ held to coincide with the local Belton Horse Trials weekend. This year’s theme was Urban Jungle with South Kesteven District Council laying on opportunities for youngsters to try their hands at a tree-top rope walk, graffitti car (where they were actually allowed to spray paint a car without fear of reprisal!) climbing wall and bungy trampoline amongst other things.

The things I do for my clients!

For our part, ‘that girl’ ran the Grantham Cup Horse-a-Round event which entailed young and old alike, donning a horse costume to jump around a course of show-jumps in the fastest time. All competitors received a clear round rosette with the fastest under 16s and over 16s (yes we had a 49 year old do a cracking time!) winning large rosettes and Easter Eggs!

Yes there is someone in that costume

Apart from the other activities on offer which also included arts and crafts in the George Centre, a velcro wall and BMX demonstrations and workshops, children had their faces painted by Alison of Doodles (one of the best face-painters I know) and were entertained by the tallest walking statues I’ve ever seen and the hilarious grannies with their shopping trollies – if you’ve not seen them, check them out on youtube, they are brilliant http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ttKXtEQei1o

Yep, the hillarious grannies on their shopping trollies
The very tall walking statues

Thanks to my trusty team of Sarah and Bethan for all your hard work and well done to the team from SKDC (David and Linzi you know who you are!) for all your efforts in making a great day happen. Hopefully we can look forward to another one in 2013…

What would I do without you Sarah!
